Homestead officials are moving forward with negotiations with the Sports Performance Hub (SPH) of Miami-Dade, a privately funded project aimed at transforming South Dade through sports, wellness and community development.
Led by Darío Sala and Juan Sebastián Verón, SPH will feature a youth sports academy, professional soccer teams, a sports hotel and a 10,000-seat stadium, hosting events like the Homestead Championship Rodeo. It will also bring jobs and economic growth, according to an SPH press note that said the project “prioritizes inclusivity and accessibility.”
With backing from Mayor Steve Losner and the City Council, final approval could come this Summer.
