Urban planner Ralph Rosado, a former Village Manager for North Bay Village, is heading to the Miami City Commission.
He defeated fellow Republican Jose Regalado in a nonpartisan Special Election for the right to succeed late Commissioner Manolo Reyes.
Rosado took 55% of the vote on Tuesday to beat Regalado, the son of a former Miami Mayor and brother to a Miami-Dade Commissioner.
The two were the only candidates competing for the job after others failed to qualify.
Rosado will be in office until at least 2027. But he may stay an extra year, depending on how Commissioners vote next week.
