Budget talks in Tallahassee proved fruitful for five road, bridge and sidewalk projects in Fort Lauderdale. All got an earmark in the state’s next spending plan.
• $1 million for pedestrian safety enhancements along Las Olas Boulevard.
• $750,000 for citywide street resurfacing.
• $750,000 for repair and reconstruction of 2.2 miles of damaged sidewalks. The city is matching the state funds 100%.
• $500,000 for numerous upgrades along Galt Ocean Drive.
• $500,000 to replace a bridge on Southeast 13th Street.
Sens. Rosalind Osgood and Jason Pizzo, and Reps. Daryl Campbell, Chip LaMarca and Mitch Rosenwald, sought the funding this year in appropriation requests.
