FIU Board of Trustees names new Chair, Vice Chair and member

Florida International University’s (FIU) Board of Trustees has elected Carlos Duart as Chair and Marc Sarnoff as Vice Chair.

The board also welcomed tech executive Fred Voccola as its newest trustee, bringing more experience in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and entrepreneurship to the panel.

Duart, an FIU alum and leader in emergency medicine infrastructure, will guide the board with Sarnoff, a former Miami City Commissioner and land-use attorney.

FIU President Jeanette Nuñez praised the appointments.

“I look forward to working with all of the trustees,” she said, “to build on our momentum … and elevate FIU across South Florida and our state.”
