Winner: Miami candidates
Candidates pushing Miami to stick with its original 2025 election schedule have finally won out.
After another Judge killed the city’s plan to push the election to 2026 – and extend current officials’ terms by a year – the city has ended its legal fight and will stick to its 2025 schedule.
Loser: Tri-Rail
South Florida leaders are sounding the alarm about the train’s future amid reports the state is looking to cut its annual contribution from $62 million to $15 million.
Local governments may not be able to make up the gap, which could derail the commuter line.
