by The 100 Companies

A former Chief Operating Officer at Jackson Health Foundation, the fundraising arm of Miami-Dade County’s public hospital system, has pleaded guilty to embezzling at least $4.3 million from the agency.

Prosecutors said Charmaine Gatlin exploited her role by funneling funds through fraudulent invoices and vendors who gave her luxury items, kickbacks and even a rose-gold golf cart all while earning a six-figure salary.

She faces up to 20 years in prison for wire fraud, money laundering and conspiracy. Her sentencing is on Nov. 25.

A co-conspirator, Georgia vendor Yergan Jones, also pleaded guilty and faces up to three years behind bars.
