‘Nobody’s asking for this’: Democratic Parkland leaders bash open carry ruling

by The 100 Companies

As Attorney General James Uthmeier declares that “open carry is the law,” following an appellate court ruling that found state restrictions unconstitutional, several Democratic leaders in Parkland – the site of Florida’s deadliest school shooting – are decrying the move.

Sen. Tina Polsky warned “more guns make us unsafe,” while Rep. Christine Hunschofsky, who was Parkland Mayor during the 2018 massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High (MSD), said she’s spoken with residents and “nobody’s asking for this.”

Rep. Dan Daley, an MSD alum, called it “reckless politics.” Vice Mayor Jordan Isrow said protecting life should supersede the right to publicly flaunt weapons.
