Tampa Pride announced on social media it was taking “a one-year hiatus” from its annual Pride Festival and Diversity Parade, citing “current political and economic climate.”
The announced cancellation also cited “challenges with corporate sponsorships, reductions in county, state and federal grant funding, and the discontinuation of DEI programs.”
St. Pete Pride, which hosts the largest pride parade in the Southeast, has vowed its events will continue.
“Our LGBTQ+ community deserves safe spaces, joyful celebrations and lasting visibility, and that’s exactly what we’ll keep building,” the group wrote on Instagram. “Together we will ensure Pride doesn’t just survive, but thrives.”’
