Hollywood Rep. Marie Woodson has been named “Legislator of the Year” by the Broward Democratic Senior Caucus at its annual luncheon in Plantation.
The thrice-elected Broward lawmaker earned the award for her “outstanding dedication to democracy” and legislative success despite GOP supermajorities in Tallahassee.
More than half her bills passed last Session, including measures expanding breast exam coverage, aiding foster care youths, combating “notario fraud” and funding clean water projects.
Woodson, who now serves as House Democratic Whip, credited “countless individuals who believe in creating positive change.”
She is currently running unopposed for re-election to her House District 105 seat.
