Avianca’s Chief Operating Officer, Gabriel Oliva, will take on the concurrent role of President, a new position the airline’s Board created to reinforce leadership as it prepares for a transition.
His appointment comes as CEO Frederico Pedreira prepares to step down in February. Under Pedreira’s leadership, Avianca strengthened its finances, expanded its network to more than 160 routes and 80 destinations, and helped transport 38 million passengers in 2024 alone.
Company leaders praised Oliva’s 14 years of aviation experience and expressed confidence he will continue advancing performance and growth. He joined the company in 2021 as CEO of Avianca Cargo.
