I like CarMax. They sold me my first car, created 30,000 jobs and have donated $110 million to charity.
But I wouldn’t buy another car from them for three reasons:
1. They generally price their vehicles $1,000 to $3,000 above market.
2. Their “125-point inspection” is questionable at best. CarMax was sued by 36 states for declaring vehicles “safe” despite having open safety recalls.
3. They refuse to negotiate – even if you find issues or a better price.
