Florida is a risky bet when it comes to flooding

Florida is a risky bet when it comes to flooding

Hurricane Sally drenched South Florida before turning its attention to the Panhandle and causing widespread flooding. Protecting your home or business from flood damage should be a top priority during hurricane season, but still too many Floridians go without flood insurance.

Making sure you have flood insurance coverage is important, but so is creating the conditions that pave the way for more insurance options. Encouraging a private flood insurance market is smart, but leaders must address underlying issues like climate change.

It’s a hot topic, but one that needs to be taken into account when discussing the insurance market.
