South Florida’s Winner and Loser of the Week

Winner: Palm Beach County Republicans.

Not only did Democrats underperform in a previously blue county, Republicans straight up won several key races, including an open House seat and two shock wins on the County Commission. It appears this is Donald Trump’s county now.

Loser: Broward voters.

Voters last week reshaped their embattled School Board, which featured several temporary appointees of Gov. Ron DeSantis following suspensions. But in the final meeting of the DeSantis-majority Board, members ousted Superintendent Vickie Cartwright, without waiting for the new Board to take over. Whether justified or not, this should’ve waited until voters’ selections weighed in.
