Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis has made provoking the opposition party part of his signature style, but that didn’t stop Democratic Palm Beach County Commissioner David Kerner from endorsing his re-election last week.
“Job number one of a Governor is to keep our residents safe,” Kerner’s statement said. “No one does that better than Governor DeSantis.”
Democrats said they were disappointed Kerner didn’t endorse his own party’s gubernatorial choice, Democrat Charlie Crist. Kerner’s endorsement drew speculation of ulterior motives. Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Ric Bradshaw’s illness has also drawn speculation the Governor will appoint Bradshaw’s successor before his term expires in 2024.
