Former major-leaguer J.P. Arencibia will become one of the Marlins’ TV analysts this season – assuming there is a season.
He will join play-by-play man Paul Severino for 50 games on Bally Sports Florida. That number, of course, could be reduced if the lockout instituted by owners drags on much longer.
Previously, Commissioner Rob Manfred announced the first two series of the regular season were canceled because of the lockout. Barring a quick breakthrough, more games could be lost.
Arencibia had 80 homers and 245 RBIs in a six-year career with Toronto, Texas and Tampa Bay. He last played in 2015.
