For an instant, loanDepot park went dark and the familiar chords of “Sweet Home Alabama” filled the ballpark.

The first save opportunity for the Marlins’ new closer had arrived. And, in the span of 12 pitches, David Robertson showed the crowd why the Marlins traded two highly rated prospects for the 15-year MLB veteran from Alabama.

Robertson, just recently a New York Met, pitched a perfect ninth inning, preserving the team’s 8-6 win, according to the Miami Herald’s Jordan McPherson.

The team’s postseason chances were looking stronger before the All-Star break and the team has a couple tough games ahead.
