A 10-mile underground water reuse pipeline system that will cut down on wastewater being discharged into the ocean has been completed, Broward County recently announced.
The pipeline project that started in 2019 and cost $28 million runs from the Broward County North Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant through Quiet Waters Park along the Hillsboro Canal to the county’s northwest region.
Once its regional partners complete their projects, up to 16 million gallons of water per day will be transported – about 60 percent of the county’s treated wastewater – to be turned into colorless and odorless water reuse for irrigation, county officials said.
