Key Biscayne leader Mike Davey wants to flip Congressional District 27 back to blue.
The former Mayor and City Council member launched a bid this week to unseat GOP U.S. Rep. María Elvira Salazar, who he says is “the center of the problem” of “chaos and dysfunction” in Washington.
“We need serious people with the right priorities,” he said. “South Florida deserves better.”
A former Republican, Davey will face Miami-Dade School Board member Lucia Báez-Geller in the Democratic Primary Aug. 20.
Former state Rep. Nick Duran and Coconut Grove activist Celia Tavera Webman spoke highly of his past government work.
