Jimmy Patronis urges residents to ‘prepare now’ for hurricane season

by The 100 Companies

What’s expected to be an extremely active hurricane season is more than a month away. But people should get ready today, according to Chief Financial Officer and Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis.

“I encourage all Floridians statewide to prepare now to ensure you, your family and your businesses have a disaster plan in place,” Patronis said at an urban search-and-rescue training center in Miami.

He said residents can visit PrepareFL.com for tips and resources, including information on Florida’s tax-free home hardening grant program.

Hurricane researchers forecast at least 23 named storms in the Atlantic Basin this year, including 11 hurricanes.
