A contest for the open House District 115 seat attracted $307,000 last quarter.
The money went to two Republican candidates: Cuban Freedom March Executive Director Alian Collazo, a longtime Tampa Bay Area resident, and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Capt. Omar Blanco.
Collazo stacked $196,000 in just 20 days. The biggest chunk ($61,500) came from his mother, who runs a St. Petersburg elder care business.
Blanco, an ex-firefighters union President, amassed $111,000. Much of it came from groups representing fellow first responders.
They’re running to succeed Rep. Alina García, who is leaving office after one term to run for Miami-Dade Elections Supervisor.
