Ex-Miami Commissioner Alex Díaz de la Portilla’s legal team, which is defending him against corruption charges, includes a former City Hall coworker: Miami-Dade Commissioner Keon Hardemon.
Hardemon, a lawyer elected to the County Commission in 2020, previously served on the Miami Commission alongside Díaz de la Portilla.
According to the Miami Herald, Hardemon’s been working for months on the case. In October, one month after his arrest for bribery, money laundering and other felonies, Díaz de la Portilla’s political committee paid Hardemon’s law firm $25,000.
Gov. Ron DeSantis removed Díaz de la Portilla after his arrest. He pled not guilty.
