Republican Rep. David Borrero isn’t running for re-election unopposed anymore.
Democratic immigration lawyer Laura Kelley is challenging him in House District 11, which spans Doral, Hialeah Gardens, Medley, Miami Lakes and Sweetwater in Miami-Dade.
Her campaign says she wants to address housing and insurance costs and protect reproductive rights.
Notably, Borrero unsuccessfully sponsored legislation this year to ban nearly all abortions.
“It’s time for leadership that … understands the complexities of our challenges (and) is also committed to working collaboratively toward equitable solutions,” Kelley said.
Kelley raised $11,171 in her first 12 days running.
Borrero, meanwhile, holds $121,000 in campaign cash.
