Weeks after voters ousted him, former Surfside Mayor Shlomo Danzinger is running to unseat Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.
He’s the fourth Republican and seventh person to enter the technically nonpartisan race. Levine Cava, a Democrat, is the first woman to hold the job.
She’s also Miami-Dade’s first Jewish Mayor. Danzinger made history in March 2022 by becoming Surfside’s first Orthodox Jewish Mayor.
He rescinded a prior endorsement of Levine Cava on Thursday.
After increasing hostilities at Town Hall, 52% of voters cast ballots against Danzinger last month to bring back Mayor Charles Burkett, whom he defeated two years prior.
