Broward County public school students will have a shorter summer vacation this year, as the School Board decided this week to start the 2024-25 year on Aug. 12, the earliest day state law allows.
The change will help the district finish its first semester by Dec. 20, the last day before winter break. The school year ends June 3, 2025.
Palm Beach County is also starting school Aug. 12, but its district runs a tighter schedule because of fewer holidays and will end the year May 30, 2025.
Miami-Dade County, meanwhile, will commence classes Aug. 15 and begin summer vacation June 5, 2025.
