Three runoffs in Doral resulted in the city electing its first woman Mayor, former Miami-Dade School Board member Christi Fraga, and two new City Council members, Rafael Pineyro and Maureen Porras.
Fraga took 54.6% of the vote compared to 45.4% for Claudia Mariaca, who vacated her City Council seat to run.
She succeeds founding Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez, who won a Miami-Dade Commission seat in August.
In the Council runoffs, Pineyro defeated Susie Castillo with 51% of the vote, while Porras topped Ivette Petkovich by 4 percentage points.
They’ll soon join Oscar Puig-Corve and Digna Cabral on the City Council.
