The Coconut Creek police have a new member of the force – its first tracking bloodhound in the history of the department.
The police department solicited the help of the city’s three elementary schools – Tradewinds, Winston Park and Coconut Creek – in naming the new, four-legged sleuth. Dozens of names were submitted, but one name stood out and came from three different classes: Liberty.
As a bloodhound, biscuit-colored Liberty comes from a breed with the most sensitive of dog noses. The canine will be tracking down missing people.
She will also be trained as a therapy dog, according to a news release.
