The Miami Military Museum and Memorial will receive no state funding this year after lawmakers failed to agree while budgeting.
The Senate wanted to apportion $150,000. The House refused to offer anything.
So, the Senate ultimately rescinded its request, which was far lower than the $650,000 Sen. Manny Diaz, Jr. and Rep. Anthony Rodriguez requested through appropriations bills (LFIR 1263; HB 2031).
The museum got $1 million from the state as recently as 2020. But its ties to disgraced former state Sen. Frank Artiles, who faces charges related to elections tampering, may have made lawmakers want to keep their distance.
