Republicans advanced into the county’s Democratic stronghold, flipping a blue seat red in the county’s most expensive House race that pitted a twice-elected Boca Raton Councilman, a Democrat, against a twice-elected Highland Beach Town Commissioner, a Republican.
Highland Beach’s Peggy Gossett-Seidman won House District 91 with a vote of 52%-48% up against Boca’s Andy Thomson.
Gossett-Seidman overcame fewer high-profile endorsements and less money to win the seat that covers Boca Raton, Highland Beach and parts of West Boca. She will be representing a district with voters that supported President Joe Biden by +5 in the last election, election data shows.
