School Board bans religious, political signs after activist sues for ‘Satan’

Signs lauding Christianity, Islam, Democrats, Republicans and any other religious or political entities aren’t welcome at Broward public schools.

The county School Board just banned them all, following a lawsuit seeking permission to raise a sign for the devil on a school campus.

Deerfield Beach activist Chaz Stevens, a self-described atheist, sued the district for discrimination because schools allowed banners from churches but not his “Satan Loves the First Amendment” sign.

He’d previously, but unsuccessfully, sought for the removal of the Bible from Broward school shelves.

Palm Beach County made a similar change in 2017 after Stevens sued for “Satan.”
