Stoneman Douglas gets back-to-back state baseball titles

by carlislewillard

Stoneman Douglas High School won its second consecutive state Class 7-A baseball championship with a dominating performance in the title game against Palm Beach Gardens.

Starting pitcher Chris Arroyo blasted a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning to cap a 10-0 victory mercy-rule win in Fort Myers.

Jake Clemente homered in the second inning to put the Eagles ahead. They added five runs in the third to assume command. Stoneman Douglas took it from there.

The Eagles also defeated Oviedo Hagerty 4-1 in the semi-final game. They finished the season 30-2 and won their last 22 games.
