Miami’s pro baseball team is already nine games back of the final wild card spot and has won fewer games than any team in the National League. Baseball-Reference.com says they have less than a 0.1% chance of making the playoffs. And it’s only June.
The disaster started early. The Marlins lost their first nine games. They’ve had losing streaks of seven, five and four games since. They’ve only won three consecutive games twice.
The team also ranks last in the NL in six key offensive stats, including runs, walks and on-base percentage. They have also committed the most errors.
