Winner: Marco Giron. The new head of the Miami-Dade Office of Film and Entertainment rose to that role from a similar position in Doral. Leading the film production arm in Florida’s most populous county could be an even bigger deal if the Legislature reignites the state’s film incentive program this Session.
Loser: South Florida politicians’ health. Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava announced Friday she had tested positive for COVID-19. Days later, Senate Democratic Leader Lauren Book of Plantation announced she also tested positive. Both are recovering, and overall cases are down. But the virus is still impacting the region.
