FAU’s record-setting, longest-in-the-nation winning streak was halted at the hands of University of Alabama at Birmingham Thursday. Conference USA’s third-ranked team downed the Owls, bringing FAU’s epic 20-game victory streak to an end.
Coach Dusty May said the team, ranked top 20 in AP’s basketball poll, got outplayed by UAB, who made it to the foul line 31 times. But May vowed the snapped streak would leave the team free to achieve greatness outside the media limelight.
True to their coach’s prediction, the Owls bounced back on Saturday trouncing Charlotte decisively, 67-52 and scoring FAU’s most wins in one season.
