The Eastern Conference finals of the Stanley Cup playoffs between the Florida Panthers and the Carolina Hurricanes pits Panther players and brothers Eric Staal and Marc Staal against another brother, Carolina Captain Jordan Staal.
Beyond sibling rivalry, both teams have something to prove. Carolina hasn’t made it to the finals since 2006 and the Panthers’ last finals were 10 years before that.
“We are that underdog role,” Panthers’ forward Matthew Tkachuk told the Sun Sentinel. “We are. No matter how you frame it, we are.”
The Hurricanes bested the Panthers in two out of three regular season match-ups in 2022-23.
