The Florida Democratic Party (FDP) is launching an effort to register voters, elect candidates and make the Sunshine State more competitive this November.
Political strategist Lisa Perth will direct the Take Back Florida Coordinated Campaign to marshal resources from party organizations and progressive groups.
Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava’s re-election campaign will help the effort.
“There is nothing more important than our long-term plan to take back Florida,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried, a Miami native.
Democratic leaders say the campaign will help them catch up with Republicans. The GOP now holds a more than 892,000-voter advantage in Florida.
