Miami Republican Sen. Ileana Garcia is filing bills for the 2025 Legislative Session, and some are headline-grabbers.
One proposal would repeal a long-standing Florida law that allows state-licensed cloud seeding and other “artificial weather interference.” It would ban those practices in the future, with violators facing up to 60 days in jail and a $10,000 fine.
Another would guarantee the right of any nursing home resident or their guardian to install and use a monitoring device – a camera, audio recorder or combination of the two – in their room.
Activists have called for such a measure to help combat elder abuse.
