Shifting boundaries may shuffle Rep. Patricia Hawkins-Williams’ plans

by

The new Senate redistricting map that appears to be on its way to approval has Rep. Patricia Hawkins-Williams rethinking her plans to campaign for a move to the Senate, she says.

Shifting boundaries landed her Pompano Beach home on the edge of Senate District 30. She’d be representing Margate, Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, Parkland and Boca Raton if she makes a Senate jump, unless she moves. Incumbent Democratic Sen. Tina Polsky also filed to run there.

The district Hawkins-Williams filed for on Jan. 10 is more like the new Senate District 32.

“Serving my communities is very important to me …” she said.
