Randy K. Avent is stepping down as president of Florida Polytechnic University after 10 years of leadership that included growing the school from its infancy into a leading STEM institution. Avent will serve through the 2023-24 academic year.
He was named the school’s inaugural president in 2014 and worked to shape Florida Poly into a model higher learning institution focused on STEM education. Avent led the school to its ABET accreditation in 2019 and its regional accreditation in 2017.
He plans to take a “brief sabbatical” before rejoining faculty. The Board of Trustees will begin a national search for his replacement.
