The chatbot will see you now. A new study suggests ChatGPT responded to patients’ questions with more empathy than physicians.
A team of health care pros compared AI and doctor responses to patient’s questions and the chatbot answers were rated higher for both quality and empathy. This could be a good thing for overworked physicians by lowering burnout rates and also bettering patient outcomes by improving overall communication skills.
And if patient’s questions are answered quickly, with compassion and to a high standard, it could reduce unwarranted clinical visits which would free up resources for those who really need them.
