After shooting, Doral moves to quell late-night boozing

by The 100 Companies

One month after a deadly bar shooting, Doral officials moved toward quashing after-hours drinking.

Council members voted Wednesday to advance a measure by Maureen Porras that would require bars in popular nightlife spots to end alcohol sales at 1:30 a.m. and close 30 minutes later.

Establishments outside busy areas could apply for a two-hour extension.

The measure would also require all bars and nightclubs to install security cameras at entryways, use metal detectors and hire additional security.

On April 6 at 3:30 a.m., a shooting at Martini Bar in CityPlace Doral killed two people and injured seven others.
