U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist has announced Florida will receive $29.3 million to develop electric vehicle charging infrastructure along the highway system.
The allocation comes as the U.S. Department of Transportation and Department of Energy announced $5 billion over five years to help states create a network of EV charging stations. The funding will be available through the National Electric Vehicle Formula Program, which was created in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
Florida will also be eligible to compete for an additional $2.5 billion for EV charging infrastructure through a separate grant program that will be announced at a later date.
