The Senate’s passage of a bill that would limit abortion to the sixth week of pregnancy last week sent Senate Democratic Leader Lauren Book to a protest that ended in handcuffs.

Book of Davie was among 11 reproductive rights protesters, including Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried, charged with trespassing in Tallahassee City Hall plaza.

Earlier, during Senate debate, Book said she believes the battle for access to abortion care is just beginning: “No one is going to save us but ourselves. So we must stand up and we must unite.”

The bill awaits final passage on the House floor.
