Rep. David Silvers is delaying a Senate campaign so Sen. Bobby Powell and Palm Beach Commissioner Mack Bernard can more easily swap seats next year.
Powell filed his intent to run for the County Commission’s District 7 seat, which Bernard has held since 2016.
Bernard, who reaches term limits in 2024, filed his intent to run for Senate District 24, which Powell has represented for the same stretch of time.
Silvers contemplated a run at SD 24 but said he’ll step aside to “avoid costly Democratic primaries” and run for Senate District 26 in 2026, when Sen. Lori Berman terms out.
