The James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards highlights stellar chefs, bakers and restaurants for their noteworthy food and dining experiences. South Florida has six semifinalists:
• Outstanding Bakery: Zak the Baker, Miami
• Outstanding Pastry Chef or Baker: Jesus Brazon and Manuel Brazon, Caracas Bakery, Doral and Miami
• Outstanding Wine and Other Beverages Program: Macchialina, Miami Beach
• Best Chef, South: Valerie Chang, Maty’s, Miami; Clay Conley, Buccan, Palm Beach; and Tristen Epps, Ocean Social, Miami
The semifinalists will be reviewed and the official nominees will be announced April 3. The winners of the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards will be announced June 10.
