The Dolphins have opted to pick up Tua Tagovailoa for his fifth season, cementing the team’s commitment to the quarterback, multiple outlets report.
The player’s third season has been his best yet – leading the league in passing yards – but the Dolphins’ continued commitment was in question as multiple injuries kept Tagovailoa sidelined for more than five games and a part of another.
His brief time on this field this season was well spent. Tagovailoa threw 25 touchdowns – a career high – and completed 64.8% of his passes, the Sun Sentinel reports.
May 2 is the official deadline for cementing the deal.
