The eighth-seed Eastern Conference team has already beaten the odds to get in the NBA Finals with No. 1 seed Denver in the Western Conference. But the heavy weight of precedent is against them this time.
Only once before has a team come back from a 3-1 deficit like the Heat is facing. That was when the Cleveland Cavaliers came back to defeat the Golden State Warriors in 2016.
So, Heat star Jimmy Butler was right when he started his post-game media availability saying, “It’s not impossible.”
