The Miami Heat nearly achieved a stat to live on in NBA history: The first play-in to make it all the way. Dreams were dashed, though, and the Denver Nuggets clinched the championship in five games Monday night.

The Heat have most of their key players under contract for the 2023-24 season, but decisions will have to be made on two key free-agents-to-be: Kevin Love and sharpshooter Max Strus.
It was nothing short of miraculous for the Heat to go from the play-in game to the NBA Finals, and miracles rarely repeat themselves in sports.
