Miami Mayor Francis Suarez is taking unpaid leave from Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, a litigation firm where he’s been counsel since May 2021.
The move – effective July 1, two weeks before he filed to run for President – is solely due to his run for the Republican nomination, a firm spokesperson said.
A real estate lawyer, Suarez’s net worth quintupled in his first mayoral term. Between 2017 and 2021, he took several additional jobs to supplement his $130,000-per-year pay as Mayor.
He also receives income from equity firm DaGrosa Capital Partners, tech conference eMerge Americas, energy startup Palmetto and crypto company Redivider.
