With loss to Celtics, Heat’s championship hopes die

by Margaret Willard

The Heat is gone—gone from the NBA playoffs, that is.

Miami fell one game short of advancing to the NBA Finals, losing 100-96 to Boston in the decisive seventh game of their Eastern Conference Finals series.

The Heat rallied from a 13-point deficit with about three and a half minutes to play. They had the ball, down by two points, with the shot clock off when Jimmy Butler went for the dagger with a 3-point attempt.

He was unsuccessful.

“When it ends, it ends with a thud,” Miami Coach Erik Spoelstra said. “It’s heartbreaking when it ends like this.”
