‘Canes baseball season ends in painful fashion

by Margaret Willard

The dream of advancing to the NCAA Super Regional and the College World Series died Sunday for the University of Miami baseball team.

The Hurricanes were one out away from keeping their season alive in the Coral Gables Regional of the NCAA tournament but saw Arizona score twice to steal a 4-3 victory and eliminate the ‘Canes.

Miami finished its season at 40-20.

“It’s always disappointing when your season’s over,” Miami head coach Gino DiMare said. “We couldn’t finish them off … Had the lead late but just couldn’t close them out, and yeah, very, very tough to swallow right now.”
